CNG GAS AND THE CNG SUPPLY CHAIN IN VIETNAM

What is CNG?

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is natural gas with methane as its main component (up to 89%) compressed at high pressure and transported by specialized vehicles.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic natural gas that is lighter than air.

SUPPLY CHAIN AND DISTRIBUTION OF CNG IN VIETNAM

1. Gas Source Extraction and Processing:

Natural gas is extracted from the gas system of Vietnam Gas Group (PV Gas) or through the PV Gas D pipeline system from the Nam Con Son, Cuu Long - Bach Ho, Ham Rong - Thai Binh basins to the compression station (Phu My - Southeast region), Tien Hai - Thai Binh compression station in the Bac Bac region with a pressure of 22 barg. The gas flow is controlled through the input gas metering system.

2. Gas Compression:

After processing, natural gas is transported to the CNG compressor station through a compressor system to compress from 14-22 barg to 200-250 barg into specialized storage tanks. This gas compression process reduces the volume of the gas and increases the pressure to a safe level for storage and transportation. The compressors and control systems are designed to comply with international standards and Vietnamese standards and regulations, ensuring safe operation.

3. Storage and Transportation:

CNG gas will be stored in specialized high-pressure cylindrical tanks made of composite or steel materials with a volume ranging from 18m3 to 40m3 and fixed on an iron frame. The tanks will be stacked and connected to each other by a pipeline through gas valves along with safety devices, thermometers, pressure gauges, etc. Depending on the usage requirements, the gas pressure in the tanks will vary (low, medium, high). The tanks and transportation vehicles must comply with legal regulations on the transportation of hazardous and flammable goods.

4. Pressure Reduction at Customer Station (PRU):

Tank trucks transport gas to the PRU station, from where the gas is expanded from the tank truck at a pressure of 200 to 250 barg through the PRU system, reducing pressure in two stages (stage 1 reduces pressure to 60 barg, stage 2 reduces pressure to 2-7 barg to supply gas to the customer as required).
The PRU system is designed and installed in accordance with international standards and Vietnamese standards and regulations, ensuring absolute safety.

5. Deliver gas into the customer's combustion system:

From the output of the pressure reducing station, gas is piped to the customer's combustion system and provides natural gas to meet the customer's needs.
