THE FUEL CONVERSION TABLE FOR GAS (CNG, LPG, FO, DO)
06/11/2024
Nowadays, gas is a very important fuel with many different uses and performance. So, customers need to understand the fuel conversion table to minimize confusion and make the right choice for their needs and abilities. Below is a table of information on conversion of fuel to gas, everyone can refer to it.
I. OVERVIEW OF GAS TYPES
1: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
CNG is a natural gas with the main component of methane (CH4) being compressed at high pressure and transported by specialized vehicles.
Commonly used units: Sm3, mmbtu.
2: Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
LPG is a liquefied petroleum gas, mainly composed of propane (C3H8) and butane (C4H6). LPG is stored in a tank (LPG BATTERY) or extracted in a bottle (LPG BOTTLE).
Commonly used units: Ton, Kg.
3: Fuel Oils (FO)
FO is fuel oil, also known as Mazut oil, FO oil is the heavy fraction when distilling paraffin and asphalt crude oil atmospheric pressure and under vacuum. FO oil is stored in liquid form in specialized equipment and containers must be tightly closed.
Commonly used units: Kg.
4: Diesel Oils (DO)
DO is a type of fuel oil in liquid form, also known as Gasoil oil. DO is a product refined from petroleum, with a distillation composition between kerosene (Kerosene) and industrial lubricating oil (Lubricating oil).
Commonly used unit: Kg

Notes:
1. BTU (British Thermal Unit): A unit of heat energy in the British system.
2. Sm3 (Standard cubic metre): 1m3 of CNG at standard conditions (temperature 15oC, pressure 1 at).
3.mmBTU: One million BTU.
4. 1kcal = 3.968321 BTU.
5. LPG calorific value is calculated at a ratio of 50% Butane – 50% Propane.
(Actual CNG calorific value ranges from 8,843 Kcal/sm3 to 11,233 Kcal/sm3.)
