How Long Does It Take to Install an Industrial Gas System? A Real-World Timeline from Survey to Commissioning

13/10/2026

One of the first questions factories ask when considering a gas system investment is: how long will it take to commission? The answer directly affects production planning — especially when expanding capacity, replacing an aging system, or preparing for an order with a fixed deadline.

The actual timeline depends on the system type (LPG, CNG, or LNG), scale, and fire-safety regulatory requirements. Below is the estimated timeline by system type and the key milestones in DATA Energy's implementation process.

What Happens at Each Milestone?

Site survey & preliminary design (3–7 days): technicians survey the site and propose an installation plan.

Equipment & material procurement (6–12 weeks): technical documentation is finalized and equipment is procured; this is the longest phase, especially for LNG, which requires imported equipment.

On-site construction (2–4 weeks): installation is carried out at the factory, coordinated to avoid disrupting ongoing production.

Fire-safety review & handover (1–4 weeks): design review and commissioning inspection per Decree 105/2025/NĐ-CP before the system goes into operation.

What Affects the Timeline?

Site readiness: Pre-leveled, concreted, and fenced tank areas speed up installation. Groundwork from scratch adds 1–2 weeks.

Fire-safety documentation: Clear factory construction records simplify inspection. Processing speed also varies by locality.

System scale: Larger tanks take longer to install. LNG requires specialized imported equipment with longer procurement lead times than LPG and CNG.

Time of year: Q4 is peak construction and production season — labor and equipment become scarcer, which can extend certain steps. Factories planning a year-end installation should start the process at least 2–3 weeks earlier than usual.
