Natural gas is a clean fossil fuel. Natural Gas is a mixture of gases whose main component is Hydrocarbon (made up of compounds of hydrogen and carbon). Hydrocarbons can contain up to 85% methane and about 10% ethane and also contain smaller amounts of propane, butane, pentane and other alkanes.

Natural Gas also contains a small amount of other impurities such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen, sulfur, steam, etc. Because these impurities can reduce the calorific value and properties of natural gas,  so they will be removed before natural gas (NG) is delivered to customers and commercial businesses.

In its natural state, natural gas (NG) is colorless and odorless.

ORGIN OF NATURAL GAS

Mostly, natural gas (NG) is formed from the remains of plants and animals hundreds of millions of years ago. When these creatures die they sink to the bottom of the sea and are covered layer after layer. Over a long period of time, this organic material source was buried deeper in the ground. Under the influence of heat, combined with compression pressure, some biological materials were converted into natural gas (NG). ).

After being formed beneath the Earth's crust, natural gas (NG) tends to enter small pores in the surrounding porous rock layers, which act as natural reservoirs.

NATURAL GAS  PROCESSING 

Geologists discover and locate potential natural gas deposits under the Earth's crust. Natural gas is often found in giant reservoirs called sedimentary basins. To access these reservoirs, geologists will drill a hole or well through the rock to allow the gas to escape and be captured. Natural gas is most commonly extracted by vertical drilling from the Earth's surface.

From the wellhead, natural gas is delivered to refineries and processing plants, where impurities (steam, residue) and byproducts (ethane, propane, butane, and sulfur) are removed compounds (not hydrocarbons). Because natural gas is a colorless, odorless gas, during processing, factories will add chemicals called odorants to natural gas to be able to detect leaks in natural gas pipelines. course. course.
