From an environmental perspective, natural gas (NG) is a clean burning fuel, creating low CO2 emissions (about 20% - 50% less than heavy fuels). According to data from the IEA (International Energy Agency), natural gas emits 45% to 55% lower greenhouse gas emissions than coal when used to produce electricity. The combustion process of natural gas produces less fine particles and dust, contributing to reducing the greenhouse effect.
